Enjoy an enchanting 8-day cruise in Egypt that combines relaxation on the Nile River with visits to the most important historical landmarks from Luxor to Aswan.
We'll meet you at Cairo Airport to complete your travel procedures and transfer you to your hotel.
We'll visit the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, where the brave can see inside, avoiding the ancient traps left by ancient builders to deter grave robbers... (Just kidding!). After visiting Egypt's most famous historical sites, we'll have a traditional lunch and then head to Memphis, Egypt's first capital, and its Saqqara necropolis. After a rest at your hotel, we'll head to Old Cairo, the medieval district, where we'll wander its oldest streets, explore the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, and have a traditional dinner at the famous historic Maraya Café.
We'll visit the city's most prominent landmarks. We'll visit the Citadel, explore the Alabaster Mosque, haggle at Khan el-Khalili, pass through the Coptic Quarter, dine, and admire the masterpieces of the Egyptian Museum (entry to the Mummy Room is not included). Then in the evening, we'll dine at a local restaurant.
We'll move to Luxor, formerly known as Thebes, the starting point for your Nile cruise. In this magnificent destination, we'll visit Luxor Temple. which is probably the most memorable image you'll have-and tour the city center in a horse-drawn carriage. Finally, we'll transfer you to your hotel where you'll rest until the next day.
Early in the morning, we'll pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the port, where we'll board a boat and begin our cruise. We'll then head to Karnak Temple, separated from Luxor Temple by the majestic Avenue of Sphinxes, about two miles long and lined with hundreds of human-headed sphinxes. We then continue the tour, crossing to the east bank of the Nile to visit the Valley of the Kings, home to some of the most famous pharaohs (entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb costs an additional €16 (US$17.40)). We will visit the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. We will return to the boat and cruise down the Nile toward Edfu, enjoying the view of the Gates of Esna in the evening.
Visit the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to Horus, the god of the sky and perhaps the most important Egyptian deity. It is the best-preserved and most magnificent temple in the country. We will then continue our cruise toward Kom Ombo, where we will visit its temple dedicated to the gods Sobek and Horus, whose location makes it one of the most beautiful temples. At the end of the day, we will continue our cruise down the Nile toward Aswan.
On this day, we will take a trip to visit the Abu Simbel temples, the most famous in Egypt, which have been saved from rising water levels thanks to coordinated international efforts. We will return to Aswan to visit the Temple of Philae, located on a beautiful island known as the Jewel of the Nile, and then return to the cruise ship for a meal. After lunch, we will sail around the area on a felucca, a traditional wooden boat found along the Nile. We will return to the cruise ship at 4:00 PM for an overnight stay.
We will transfer you to Aswan Airport, where you will board your return flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, we will assist you in booking your international flight. We will adjust your departure time from Aswan based on the timing of your flight from Cairo.
